What's striking is that he had to drag his posse along, his entourage: Mike Pence, who does the adoring wife role way better than the First Lady; Ben Carson, who raised the number of black people in the hall from one to two; and- take note- two of America's most homophobic politicovangelicals: Franklin Graham and Alveda King, who is to the King family what Stephen is to the Baldwins, and who raised the black contingent another 33%:
TRUMP: What a crowd.

TRUMP: And just so you know from the Secret Service, there aren't too many people outside protesting, OK. That I can tell you.

A lot of people in here, a lot of people pouring right now. They can get them in. Whatever you can do, fire marshals, we'll appreciate it.
TRUMP: And I want to thank our great vice president, Mike Pence, for the introduction.
