Fiction vs. reality

Really awful days are like a favorite Holden Caulfield author: I wish there was somebody to call up and say, "God, I feel gutted by all this news!"

Or better yet, to get called by someone asking, "How are you keeping? Things are pretty crappy these days."

That doesn't happen much, either, though.
