We are relocated, even as our belongings wend their way southward via moving van set to arrive on the 15th. It was a remarkable trip- travel by auto, ferry, shuttle bus and airplane to get across the country. We caused TSA enough anxiety they had to tear up my suitcase to find out that the projectile looking object was in fact-
-our martini shaker.
One nice thing about upstate South Carolina is you get February days when it is sunny and 70 degrees out. Today in Port Angeles it's raining and 45.
Things have certainly changed in the thirty years we've been on the road. Beer with lunch at a cool restaurant, Two Chefs 2 Go. Liquor sold by private vendors, and with Laphroaig $11 a bottle cheaper than in Washington. Bruicladdich- the Halley's Comet of single malts- sitting there on the shelf like it's there every day. And this is a state where presidential candidates come, not like Washington, where Seattle is just an ATM machine to tap Microsoft money.
Best of all, we are plunged back into the controlled mayhem of our family, and a sudden extended family of people who knew about us long before we arrived to know about them.
Welcome back, y'all! It's good to have you back home. Maybe you'll make your way on over to SAPC sometime soon and we'll meet at General MacArthurs for fat back and sweet tea!
ReplyDeleteGlad the trip was a nice one.
Nice to have you back, and I hope you are settling in nicely.
