When Waldo posted word, the other day, that a proposed California ballot measure calling for the execution of all gay people, and providing for other forms of moral uplift, had been denied a place on the voting paper for being simply beyond the pale, a reader commented:
I missed this one. Now, of course, if this had been put forth in the Deep South it would have gotten enough national ink to sink a battleship.Waldo, is, of course, mindful this has been a rough patch for l'amour-propre du Sud, but this seems a little, well...grudging.
But who knows? As Southerners, and leading Southern institutions, have been threatening to unleash the winds from sometime, maybe we will get to see the Southern Sodomite Suppression Act yet.
Good point. The fact is our troglodytes are sometimes behind those in California. Give them a little time and they'll come up with their own hare-brained anti-gay proposals.
